Varifocal Fitting

To be made accurately varifocal lenses require additional measurements to be taken whilst you are wearing your new frames. To achieve this, when you complete your order for varifocal lenses, we will first send you the empty frames for a Varifocal Fitting Photo.

The package will include a pre paid return envelope (UK Only) and some simple instructions for taking the photo.

Basically we require an eye level photo of you wearing your new glasses taken from approximately 6 feet away. You can zoom in to to get a clear view of the frames and your pupils. Please note: Photos taken from inside 6 feet such as “selfies” can cause a parallax effect resulting in inaccurate measurements.

Once we have your photo we can use our scaling formula to take the required measurements and order your custom made varifocal lenses.

Varifocal & Varifocal Fitting FAQ’s

Q: Can you extrapolate the required measurements from my existing varifocal glasses?

A: If we are re-glazing that particular pair with varifocal lenses then yes. However, if you are choosing a new frame then no. The measurements we require are the height from your pupil to the bottom rim of the new frame along with your PD.

Q: I’m a new varifocal wearer. What if I cannot adapt to varifocal lenses?

A: It’ can take some time for your eyes to adapt to varifocal lenses especially when it’s your first time wearing them. We usually ask that you try them for a week or so to see how you get on . However, in some rare cases you may find that you are not adjusting very well to varifocal lenses. We are happy in this case to exchange them for something else, such as Bifocals or two separate pairs. Should this be the case, we will make any price adjustments either way, so you’ve nothing to loose by giving them a try.

Q: Can I email the fitting photo to you?

A: Yes, if you would like to us to get a head start on preparing your varifocal lenses you can email your photo along with your order number to info@justgoodglasses.co.uk. Simply, send the email making a note of your order number and return the glasses in the prepaid envelope.
